CAVITY WALL:-
1.) A cavity wall consists of an inner and outer wall divided by avoiding
2.) This void is known as the cavity
3.) The cavity wall usually constructed with either bricks or blocks
4.) The skins are commonly masonries such as brick or concrete block
5.) Masonry is an absorbent material therefore will slowly draw rainwater or even humidity into the wall
6.) The cavity serves as a way to drain this water back out through weep holes at the base of the wall
WALL TIE:-
There is a large variety of different types of wall ties made by stainless.
There are two basic requirements for wall tie
1.) Tieing the outer and inner wall of the cavity wall together
2.) Prevent moisture from the outer of the inner wall of brickwork
Advantages of cavity wall:-
1.) Masonry is an absorbent material therefore will slowly draw rainwater or even humidity into the wall
2.) The cavity serves as a way to drain this water back out through weep holes at the base of the wall
3.) It provides insulation to a room
4.) It helps in lower down the temperature of the room
Disadvantages of cavity wall:-
1.) It requires a large space
2.) It costs more than normal masonry
